International students have a few additional admissions requirements to meet before they can gain admission to Strayer University.
English Proficiency Students whose native language is not English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Information about this test may be found at any U.S. Embassy or Consulate, or online. The minimum score for admission is 400. Undergraduate students that score between 400 and 500 on the paper-based test must enter a combined language study and academic program until attaining language proficiency before they can pursue a full-time academic program. Graduate students that score between 460 and 550 on the paper-based test must enter a similar program. Students who score less than 400 must enroll in an intensive language program.
Form I-20AB United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Form I-20AB will be issued to students residing outside of the U.S. once all admission and non-immigrant requirements are met.
Tuition Deposit A $300 tuition deposit is required as part of the admissions process. This deposit is applied towards your first semester tuition and can be refunded only if your F-1 visa is denied. If your visa is denied, you must return the original I-20AB and/or a denial letter from the Embassy before a refund will be issued. All refund requests must be received in writing within 12 months of the initial application date. If you would like to update your start date to a new term, we recommend that you request this change and return the original I-20AB to your campus within 30 days of the start date listed on your current I-20AB.
Adequate Funds Students need to demonstrate that they have adequate funds to cover one year’s expenses before coming to the U.S. to study. You and/or any sponsor(s) will need to complete a Certificate of Financial Support Form prior to I-20AB issuance.
Arriving in the U.S. USCIS regulations require that you arrive in the U.S. no more than 30 days prior to the start date indicated on your I-20AB.
Health Insurance Strayer University urges all international students to enroll in one of the group health insurance plans recommended by the Association of International Educators (NAFSA).
