Celebrating the Class of 2020
Celebrating the hard work and dedication of Strayer University’s graduates should not be postponed—even in a pandemic. To celebrate the accomplishments of the class of 2020, Strayer held a virtual commencement ceremony on August 15, 2020 for 1,330 graduates and their families.
The virtual ceremony upheld many of Strayer’s honored commencement traditions, including messages from University leaders, featured students and speakers, name reading and more.
Cale Holman, acting president of Strayer University, kicked off the ceremony, followed by remarks from the Graduate Award winner, Kyle Lashlee (Master of Science in Human Resource Management). Special elements like a student story video montage and a message of congratulations from faculty members added to the celebration. Then, Debra Lee, chairman & CEO emerita of Black Entertainment Television, delivered the keynote speech.
“As you have seen over the past four months, the future is yours,” said Ms. Lee. “It is up to your generation to find the coronavirus vaccine, to make that great film about social justice, to make sure the criminal justice system works, to teach your children and friends the difference between right and wrong.”
The next virtual commencement ceremony will be held in 2021. For more information, visit https://commencement.strayer.edu/ virtual-commencement
