$1,000 College Readiness Scholarship eligibility requirements
The recipient must be a new student without transfer credits, enrolling for the first time in a Strayer University bachelor’s degree program and registering for the spring or summer 2025 quarter of enrollment. They must also complete the Sophia College Readiness course to qualify.
- Recipient must meet Strayer University admission requirements.
- Recipient must have completed their undergraduate application and provided any supporting materials, including FAFSA, by the application deadline to be eligible for the scholarship.
- Recipient must have completed the College Readiness course offered through Strayer affiliate, Sophia, by April 6, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time if starting in spring 2025 quarter, or by July 6, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time if starting in summer 2025 quarter and earned an overall score of 70% or better.
- Recipient must have registered for and begun the College Readiness course no sooner than January 6, 2025 and no later than 14 calendar days before the first day of recipient’s initial term of enrollment.
- Certificate programs, the Jack Welch Management Institute (JWMI) program, Devmountain and Hackbright programs, Degrees@Work programs, and VerizonOnsite programs are ineligible for this scholarship.
- Continuing students, employees of Strategic Education, Inc. and its subsidiaries, and family members in the same household as such employees are ineligible for this scholarship.
- Once eligibility is confirmed, the offer will be applied to recipient’s account in two (2) equal disbursements of $500.00 during the recipient’s first two terms of enrollment after:
- If recipient does not register for or drops all courses during a quarter where the scholarship is disbursed, they forfeit the disbursement for that quarter.
- If recipient takes off or otherwise discontinues their enrollment for more than two consecutive quarters, they will become ineligible for any unused portion of the scholarship, if any, and will not be entitled to any future disbursements.
Acknowledgements
- The recipient understands that this offer applies to tuition only. Technology fee, final academic requirement evaluation fee, books, any course materials and non-obligatory fees must be paid by a separate method of payment.
- The recipient understands that this offer will reduce their tuition balance and may decrease the amount of financial aid funds available to them.
- The recipient understands and agrees that this scholarship may not be combined with certain other scholarships offered by Strayer or tuition assistance aligned pricing (TAAP) or other corporate discounts (also known as employer discounts).
- The recipient understands and agrees that the scholarship may not be combined with corporate alliance/national account discounts.
- The recipient understands and agrees that the scholarship may be combined with the Graduation Fund if you are enrolled in a bachelor’s program.
- The recipient represents that neither they, an immediate family member or household member of theirs are currently employed by the University, the University’s parent company, or any other subsidiary of the parent company (Strategic Education, Inc.).
- The recipient understands and agrees that they are subject to all academic policies and procedures applicable to Strayer University students, as provided for in the catalog.
- The recipient agrees to maintain good academic standing (GPA 2.0 or greater for undergraduate programs) during the entire time that they are receiving the scholarship. Any quarter following the quarter when they fail to maintain good academic standing, the scholarship will be forfeited until they return to good academic standing.
- The recipient understands that if they choose to change to an ineligible program, discontinue or withdraw (either voluntarily or involuntarily), they will become ineligible for this scholarship.
- The recipient understands and agrees that this scholarship has no cash value, and under no circumstance will they be eligible for a refund, cash payment or any other compensation for the value of unused scholarship funds and/or disbursements.
- Recipients of the scholarship must read and agree to terms presented in the award agreement prior to the start of the first application of the scholarship funds.
- The recipient understands and agrees that in all cases, the scholarship is offered at Strayer University’s discretion.
